In the world of dental care, what initially seems daunting can transform into a story of hope and healing. Recently, an 18-year-old patient presented to our clinic with nasal obstruction, having previously been diagnosed with cancer in the upper jaw. Unsure of her condition, she sought a second opinion after being referred by a former patient.

Upon a thorough examination, we decided that further imaging was necessary and utilized our in-house CBCT scan to obtain a detailed view. The scan revealed a surprising discovery: rather than cancer, the patient had been misdiagnosed and was suffering from a cyst. While this was a relief, it posed a new challenge. The cyst was extensive, and early assessments suggested that we might need to extract the teeth in the affected area. However, given the patient’s young age and the importance of preserving her natural dentition, we focused on a more conservative treatment plan.
